The Secret Behind The Law Of Attraction

I have just read the most amazing book. I have blogged a lot about The Law Of Attraction and the reasons Happier Than God Book by Neale Donald Walsch that it doesn’t work for so many people. I was overjoyed when I found that one of my favorite authors, Neale Donald Walsch, who wrote the Conversation With God Series, wrote a comprehensive book about how the Law Of Attraction really works.

This phenomenal book is called “Happier Than God”. Not only is it touching and heart felt I consider it a must have resource. It is a reminder of who we are and how we co-create. For me it is a book that I want to read over and over, in order to commit it to my consciousness and live my authenticity.

I can’t recommend it enough. I hope you choose to pick it up and love it as much as I did.

I have been really busy and haven’t gotten to write too many posts lately. I am holding the intention to come and visit with you more frequently now.

The Law Of Attraction & Blessings

I have the great pleasure of being able to connect, through Skype, to an old friend from Vancouver who now lives in South Africa. She’s one of the most spiritual people I’ve ever met. When I say that it’s not that she talks spirituality it’s that she lives it…she is it. I am very honored to know her and I love her dearly.

As our friendship has spanned about 15 years I’ve watched as she has moved through these years manifesting in almost the blink of an eye. What’s her secret you may ask? She knows that the Law Of Attraction is more than thinking or believing, it’s about knowing and being. One has to know deep in one’s heart and soul that your desire is inevitable and to not be attached to the outcome. With attachment comes doubt; the fear of there being a possibility of things not manifesting. You must be what you seek to find.

The Universe adores my friend as I do and will work with her at all times because what she asks is never for herself, instead she asks for the good of all mankind. There is not a soul that she won’t help.

I watched her walk her journey listening to her heart. When I say this I mean that she finds her answers within herself and acts on them. I remember when she told me, after having vacationed in South Africa, that it was the next place that she had to be in her life; she heard the call of Africa within her and followed. It was an interesting time because the day that she told me that was the day I told her that I had been to Toronto and was being called there. We were both living in Vancouver at the time.

There are few modern day heroes or heroines; she is one. I’ll be telling you more about her in time, as she is part of something holistic that will change the way the world sees certain illnesses. Here’s to more people manifesting a better place for all us.

What Does It Mean To Be Authentic?

Being authentic and being true to myself are the same thing in my mind. I believe that being authentic means looking to my soul and it’s purpose and letting that lead my way. When I do this I am at peace, I feel one with the world around me and I am content. Personally I can’t ask for more.

I found this wonderful video that I want to share with you. It’s a wonderful answer to a difficult question. What does it mean to be authentic. The woman speaking is Virginia Fitton. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Overwhelming To-do List Blues

I was on the phone talking to a friend as she was getting prepared to go out of town. Over the past couple of days I had heard her say, a few times, that she wouldn’t get everything she needed to done. I remember a time in my life when I felt that way 24/7. It had the adverse effect of keeping me up at nights as I my mind went through lists of everything that had to be accomplished the following day.

One day I realized that when I die I was still going to have unaccomplished items on my to-do list. I started to relax a bit at first and with time I am now far more relaxed, with the exception of panicking every tax season. Tells you where I’m headed at the moment!

What I have come to understand is that I am the one who gives meaning to what is important or a priority in my life. Furthermore, it is I who then puts pressure on myself to accomplish these tasks. When I apply such deep pressure as to cause mental or emotional harm to myself I am not being true to myself. Is it any wonder that I’m unhappy in those moments?

I also came to realize that as I was hurrying through the tasks that I was hurriedly trying to get done I never got the opportunity to be in the present moment and enjoy what I was doing. Living that way totally takes away from the quality of life that I deserve. The irony is that the entire time it was in my power to turn around, I just didn’t realize it.

I changed my thinking in order to change my life. We create the illusion that something is so important that we can actually cause most of our own stress and lack of enjoyment. In the end we can only ask ourselves if is it worth it. I know my answer; do you know yours?

8 Commitments To Be True To Yourself

8 committments It’s been two weeks since I posted. This is because I was being true to myself and moving forward with the new website. I’m glad to say it’s finally done, if you can ever really say that about a website when it’s always a work in progress. Then again doesn’t the term “a work in progress” describe life in general?

One of the things I wrote for the website is the 8 commitments – these are important ways to be true to oneself; they are in fact gifts you give to yourself. When I follow these, which isn’t always easy in every moment, I find I am living the most authentic life possible for myself. I feel in state of heightened clarity, my mood is light and jovial and I have a great sense of being proud of myself. All in all it makes me feel good. I know living life joyfully is my goal, what about you?

These commitments aren’t work and I hope you don’t see them as that. They ARE a means to be free from some of social pressures we put on ourselves. For example, when you commit to being yourself around others you are standing up with pride and saying, “this is who I am and I’m worth looking at”. I mean how great is that? It means that you like yourself and aren’t afraid to speak your truth. You have faith that even if other people disagree with your views that they still see your worth and they value you. You don’t have to people please or say yes when you mean no. That’s freedom and self-respect.

When we give ourselves permission to be authentic with other people we are in essence giving them permission to do the same thing with us. They learn by example and as they say, “the truth shall set you free”. Give the gifts that keep on giving; commit to yourself. It’s a whole new adventure in living.

Life As A Mirror

I’m having a weird dog week. As a psychotherapist I work with people who are having issues with specific things in their life. Yet I’m at a total loss now that my beloved dog is having a fear issue. She must have slipped on the icy stairs leading down to the back yard and now she’s afraid to go up and down those stairs.

So I made her go down the stairs and after she did her business she just stood at the stairs (only 4 steps) and stared at me with those doe caught in the headlight eyes. Hmmm…ok I can handle that. I went to the cupboard got her favorite treat and stood at the top of the stairs. No dice she didn’t budge. Now I know it has to be the ice because she’s bounding up and down the stairs in the house without a blink. So I tore off a piece of her cookie and tossed it to her. Yes she ate it up just about smacking her lips – she still didn’t budge up the stairs. So I gave in and went down and lifted her to the middle step. With me in back of her she bounded up. She knows mom has her back.

While I still don’t know exactly how I’m going to deal with her I am wondering if my dog is being a mirror for me. I can’t look at her without pondering on my own fears and if I am letting anything paralyze presently without realizing it. Though I haven’t completely clued in to it I do have a gut instinct that there is truth to that statement and I need to take a deeper look inside. I’m very grateful that I have my dog and all life around me to mirror me and help make me aware of myself. Sometimes as we go through the motions of life we are so focused on what we are doing outside of ourselves that we forget to stop and check in with our insides.

The Universe communicates to us in a myriad of ways. I think maybe I better go and say thank you by giving the pup another treat!

I Am A Believer – OK So I Always Was!

On January 8th, 2008 I did a post called, Patience Is A Virtue Or Synchronicity Is At Work Here. I said that something great was going to come from my computer woes and it did.lovemacbook

As it turned out all I needed was some RAM for my laptop. Not a problem at all. However when I went I called Apple support I also wanted to register the extra Apple Care I bought with the laptop. I was tld they couldn’t do that because the laptop had been registered previously. I wasn’t surprised as I bought the demo or floor model and when it’s taken out of the box it had to be registered right away by the retailer, London Drugs.

What I didn’t know is that within 30 days of selling a demo model the retailer has to send Apple a particular form so that Apple Care can be registered. The form hadn’t been sent in by the retailer and when it was months later Apple didn’t accept it. The retailer and I went back forth trying to figure something out.

I received a phone call two days ago and London Drugs has given me a brand new laptop – box never opened. The Apple care was applied immediately to it and I have coverage until 2011.

Keep in mind that the model I bought was originally opened November 2006 and I purchased it May 2007. Nine months later I have a brand new model with more RAM, a hard drive that’s 20 gigs larger, a faster processor and has the new operating system.

I love The Universe and it loves me!

Sage Shirley Teaches Us To Speak Our Truth

I recently read Sage-ing While Age-ing by Shirley Maclaine. I loved the book; moresaging importantly I admire the woman. She courageously speaks her truth in an unobtrusive manner. Shirley is aware that you may or may not have the same belief system and she knows that there is a good chance she’ll be ridiculed; yet she speaks with faith and conviction.

Now I realize that she started speaking and writing with such candor quite a while ago and that it becomes easier to speak one’s truth as it is practiced. I believe that all of us spiritual seekers owe her our gratitude for giving us a voice. Not only has she helped open the door for us to speak our truth she has led by example. There is no greater gift to give another.

Speaking our truth can be difficult, especially in a society where judgment is the norm. No one wants to be misunderstood or to stand out in the crowd in a negative way. On the other hand, the past has shown us that it is those who daringly say what they believe, in the face of adversity, that change the world for the better. Let’s face it, the chances of any individual having a thought that no one else in the history of the world has had is slim to none. I’d actually count on none being more like it. It’s amazing that we can be so afraid to speak what so many others have thought before us.

Maybe that’s why blogging is so popular. For the most part, bloggers aren’t afraid to say what’s on their minds. It’s already understood and expected that not everyone will go for what you say on your blog. Let’s hope that this form of communication is the first step in people, especially new generations, speaking their truth at all times.

Centering Myself

The past week has been really strange. There’s so much going on and I’ve been really excited. The really great kind of excited! Though the energy that goes with that is intoxicating I find that a times I just can’t focus; I’m just too wired with positive energy.

Yesterday it got to be too much; I needed to calm my system and get centered so I could focus on my work. I decided to do a little afternoon meditation.

I plunked myself on my couch and got really comfy. I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing. It’s been a while since I meditated and it didn’t come as easy as it used to when I did it daily. I made myself stay in place until I was calmer. As the excited energy calmed down I relaxed into a wonderful meditation. It wasn’t long; I only went for 10 minutes. That was enough to be able to get centered. The best part is that I felt like I had a restful nap.

Being centered is an important part of living a healthy and balanced life. It’s what helps keep us level when there is a storm brewing around us. It’s the difference between being able to handle an emergency well or falling apart through one. Everyone needs to know how to center him or herself.

For me it’s meditation; for someone else it may be folding laundry (which can actually be considered as a form of meditation, believe it or not). Centering yourself is doing anything that calms you down and clears your mind to a place where you have clarity. This is a necessity in this world where we are inundated by the house phone ringing, the cell phone ringing and a new e-mail all coming in at once. Our senses are over stimulated on a regular basis and need to be quieted.

I’d like to hear about how you center yourself. It would be great to share new possibilities with each other. Leave a comment and tell us what you do.

Got To Have Faith, Faith, Faith

There are times when I don’t like what I see in front of me; a situation seems bleak. Itfaith can be difficult having faith that all is how it’s supposed to be and good will come from it in the long run; even though it’s been proven to me time after time.

Last summer a girlfriend of mine kept saying how she wanted a new car. The frequency she said it kept mounting. She has two little children and felt she needed a safer vehicle before the snow fell. By September she was in the process of looking.

Sometime in October she was on the way to pick up the kids from daycare. She was a block away, going through a green light when another car hit her. She was thankful the kids weren’t in the car at the time. She was a little sore the next day but she was fine physically.

She knew that the collision wasn’t her fault, the other driver had admitted that, though you never know what the other driver is going to say when they speak to their insurance company. To top it off the other driver was a few months pregnant.

As it turned out the other driver did claim responsibility. The problem was that it was going to take time to check out my friend’s car, which was a write off, and come back to her with a price. My girlfriend went ahead and bought a used car which wasn’t very old and in excellent shape. She couldn’t live without a car, as she needed it for work and taking care of her kids.

Six to eight weeks had gone by when she heard from the other driver’s insurance company. The price they gave her for her car was more than if she had sold it or traded it in for her new car. Actually she got pretty close to what she paid for it used when she bought it two years earlier. Without the accident she would have never gotten that much money.

Now not all stories are as nice as this, where no one is hurt. Yet I do believe that when we stop worrying and let The Universe do its job we are opening ourselves enough to see the real gifts we’re being sent. It’s not easy in all situations and in some it can feel like it’s downright impossible.

The key for me is that when something I don’t like happens I have to step back and just stop. Worrying never does me any justice; it usually just exacerbates negative thinking, which no good can come from. So I clear my thoughts and talk the One I am co-creating with. Faith is a small word jam packed with all the vitamins and minerals I need to get through any situation.
